Having said all of that, I wonder if Ande's idea isn't the best (regardless of what format you choose to go with for the blog). If it was still public with no comments, but you cross-posted entries in a private forum, you could allow people to respond and discuss in a controlled/private environment, but still keep the blog itself public. I'm not sure how much extra work that would be for you, but if it was negligible I would say that's the best option for running your site the way you have and seem to love, but keeping the riffraff at bay.

I hate to see us lose your input but I wonder if simply publishing articles with no comments enabled and having a members-only forum wouldn't be a good compromise. There's something about the immediacy of the response form and the lack of accountability available from anonymity (oh, hypocritical me) that seems to encourage people's awfulness.

Bob, great car and a wonderful website - I could spend all day here. BUT - I am looking for a 1958 Isetta in excellent condition to purchase. Do you have any in-roads or information on any available that may not be advertised? Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanks! Have a great holiday season.

And a belated Happy Easter to you too! The fruit cakes being compared to bricks definitely makes my chuckle list…..perhaps some fruity garnish around the display would have added more relevance. It is quite strange how the human mind works, and association is key to avoid possible misyunderstandings like this one! Classic!

Great restoration. My first connection with an Isetta was in 1960 when my sister's college roomate came to visit us and drove her new Isetta. I've been a gearhead since age "0" so it intrigued me a lot. Although I was 14 at the time, we lived in the sticks in upstate NY so driving at my age was routine. I can still remember the thrill. I'm thinking about finding one in fairly good shape to touch up a little to a level like yours. I am no longer physically able to do much wrenching anymore, so if I buy one, it will have to be mostly "done." Anyway, thanks for the great website.

It’s entirely possible that I copied that individual number across incorrectly (and that the index was correct), but when I did the query just then it returned a Technorati Rank of 37, so as you say there would be no change in the rank, but an improvement in your index.

Hello! My name is Krasimir Arsov and I own BMW Isetta 300.I'm really interested in this type of car. I think you are more experienced professionals as me. So can you tell me the year of manufacture of the car by chassis number (the number is 503316). And when this year will be held public events for BMW Isetta like Techno Classica Essen? I will be grateful if you help me! Regards.

i just discovered this amazing car the isetta last week when i was watching a show on t.v named storage wars.once i googled the isetta and youtube it i was in love!!.i pictured in my head how i wanted "mine" to look.and i kept telling my girlfriend "mine" is going to be green (exactly like yours) with a pearl white roof and stripe down the door.so when i saw your website i was in shock...I SAID THATS IT !!!..THATS EXACTLY HOW I PICTURED MINE IN MY HEAD!! the only difference mine would have is the interior would be completly pearl white..well i viewed almost every picture you posted up and i see the long journey you made. my question is how much did this restoration cost you ?? i'm trying to get a ball park figure. i love your car from the paint..to the white wall tires....awesome car!! oh and i'm not to sure on the different body types ...but i like the isetta 250 because of the rear brake lights.. great job...DONT EVER SELL IT!!! :)

Had an Isetta 300 in my 20's, 40 years down the line I have a got another one. We moved to France from England my husband wanted a 2cv (French) we goined a car club which had different types of cars so I went back to England and managed to get my bubble (which there isn't any in France that I know of) and continue the fun I had many years ago.

Great site Bob. I am restoring a 1960 Isetta 300-British built-Canadian car and have already used your site many many times to look at pictures of what mine SHOULD look like. You did an amazing job and I am still amazed at how good the engine looks with all the polishing you did. I can only hope mine will someday look 1/2 as good as yours!!

Hi Bob I just visited your website for the first time and noticed that you have the same Lucas tail lamps that I have. In your picture of the EBay replacements you mention that you were upset that they came in Red instead of Amber. I made the same mistake, the lamps are actually Red and lose their colour after years in the sun! I am very excited that I now have the Lucas part number from the box in your picture - now I can try to find replacements for my Amber lenses! Derek 58 BMW 300 SW (British built for Canada)

First off, congratulations on a sweet isetta restoration. I retired from doing them about 6 years ago and still own my bubble window I purchased about 1973. Not even sure how many I have restored over the years but have always loved them. Reciently I have teamed up with Jeff Henkleman in Portland and we are building another little slider. I forgot how much fun it is to play with and isetta and am glad to be back in the fun of doing one. Your site is inspiring and well done. Its nice to see someone with the same love for the little cars, Bill

Hi Bob,cracking site and pics, I dont think I would get away with any parts on the dining room table though. I came accross a three wheel chassis and loads of parts ealier this year, I intend to restore them to a running condition and have started with stripping the chassis and cleaning up the suspention parts. I will try and live up to your standards but I am not sure that I am that good take care, Ray Glendinning, West Yorkshire.

Likely a dumb question, but I figure I better ask. I just purchased a 1957 Isetta and do not know whether to provide leaded or unleaded fuel. The filler neck does not give the answer. Thank you.

Driving between our two homes, we always stop by the Bantam Chef in Chesnee, SC for a good meal. The restaurant's "50's museum" includes an actual Isetta. This area is near where Isettas were built (and saved the BMW company). I found photos at this website: http://www.tailofthedragon.com/SC11_Loop/day3.html

Beautiful Restoration!! I especially like your color choice. I was originally wanting to do an olive green and cream combo for my restoration, but recently I've been leaning towards a brown and cream combo with a vintage volkswagon plaid for the upholstery. You've done a fantastic job documenting your restoration. Your website has been an inspiration and a valuable resource.
